Sedation is offered for our patients — please let the front desk know so we can schedule appropriately for your visit.
Our Sedation Options
Dr. Pinney understands that dental anxiety is real, and we want every patient to feel safe and comfortable. We offer two sedation options to help you relax during your procedure:
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Nitrous oxide is a safe, mild sedative inhaled through a small mask placed over your nose. It produces a gentle calming effect within minutes, keeping you relaxed while remaining fully conscious and able to communicate with Dr. Pinney throughout your visit. The effects wear off almost immediately once the mask is removed, so most patients can drive themselves home after their appointment.
Nitrous oxide is an excellent option for patients with mild to moderate anxiety, sensitive gag reflexes, or those undergoing longer procedures.
IV Sedation
IV (intravenous) sedation delivers sedative medication directly into the bloodstream through a small needle, providing a deeper level of relaxation. Patients remain in a semi-conscious, deeply relaxed state and typically have little to no memory of the procedure afterward. IV sedation is ideal for patients with significant dental anxiety, complex treatment needs, or those who prefer to be unaware of the procedure.
A responsible adult must drive you home following IV sedation. Our team will provide detailed pre- and post-procedure instructions when you schedule.
