Gentle, judgment-free care — we'll explain everything in plain language.

Root canals get a bad rap, but here is the truth: done well, a root canal is the thing that ends your pain. At Ted M Pinney DDS in Jacksonville, we clear the infection from inside the tooth, seal it up, and send you home feeling better than when you came in — all while keeping you numb and comfortable from start to finish. You are welcome here, no judgment about how things got to this point.

What to expect.

  1. Find out what's going on

We take a close look at the tooth and get an image so we can pinpoint the problem and walk you through exactly what we see.

  2. Get you numb and at ease

We take our time making sure the area is thoroughly numb before we do anything — most folks are surprised by how comfortable the whole visit feels.

  3. Clean out the infection and seal

We gently remove the infected tissue from inside the tooth, clean the space carefully, and seal it so the infection cannot come back.

  4. Restore your tooth

We finish with a filling or crown to protect the tooth and get it back to full strength for everyday life.

Have questions about Endodontics / Root Canal?

Will a root canal hurt?
We hear this one a lot, and we understand the worry. The honest answer is that a root canal relieves the pain that brought you in — you will be fully numb throughout, and most patients say it feels a lot like a regular filling.
Why save the tooth instead of just pulling it?
Keeping your natural tooth is almost always the better path for your bite, your jaw, and your long-term comfort. A root canal lets us do that instead of moving straight to an extraction and replacement.
How long will the appointment take?
Many root canals wrap up in one or two visits, depending on the tooth and what we find. We will give you a clear picture of what to expect for your specific situation before we get started.
What does recovery look like?
A little tenderness for a day or two is normal and usually settles down with over-the-counter pain relief. Most people are back to their regular routine pretty quickly.
How much does a root canal cost?
The cost depends on your individual treatment — every tooth and every situation is a little different. We check your insurance first, then put together a clear, itemized estimate for you to look over before any treatment begins, so there are no surprises. If cost is a concern, please just tell us — we are happy to talk through options and payment plans together.

It’s a pleasure to care for you.

Book your visit and we’ll take it from there — gently, and at your pace.
